A thermostat is the cheapest part of the system and the one most likely to make the whole thing look broken. It gets checked before anything bigger is quoted.
Before you call
- My heating runs constantly / not at all. Is that the thermostat?
- Sometimes, and it is the cheapest thing to rule out, so it gets checked first rather than last.
- Do I need a smart thermostat?
- Only if you want one. A failed thermostat can be replaced like for like — the upgrade is a separate conversation, not a condition of the repair.
